204 – The Arts of Shaolin with Shifu Yan Tuo & Ivonne Delaflor

This week, we are honored to welcome Shifu Yan Tuo, a 34th-generation Shaolin disciple and my Gong Fu Cha (tea ceremony) teacher.

Shifu Yan Tuo, also known as Wang Lu, began learning Kung Fu at the age of six under the guidance of his father in Shandong province.

In 1997, he entered the Shaolin Temple, and in 2000, he formally began training under the abbot, Shi Yong Xin. Through years of rigorous training, he mastered numerous traditional fist forms, weapons, and internal practices, embodying the Shaolin principle of Chan Wu He Yi—the integration of Zen and martial arts as a path to spiritual and physical harmony.

In 2008, he began sharing Shaolin teachings in Seoul, and a year later, he started teaching in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. In 2014, he founded the Shaolin Temple of San Diego, and today, he continues to share the spirit of Shaolin in the Pacific Northwest.
